Glascote Fish - Tamworth

I have frequented this fish and chip shop many times and usually found the food to be above average. However, I was very disappointed with my meal tonight. I placed an order for collection through their website at 8:05 PM, with the shop closing at 8:15 PM. Despite the time constraints, I expected the food quality to meet the usual standard. Unfortunately, the cod I ordered for myself was not freshly cooked. It appeared to have been sitting in a heated display for quite some time, as the batter was dried and hard, and the fish itself was tasteless and rubbery. The chips and my wife's pie were somewhat satisfactory, but not up to their usual quality. If there isn't enough time to cook a dish properly, it should not be offered on the menu. Subpar food should not be passed on to the customer.

We always enjoy visiting George's Fish Bar in Glascote, Tamworth as a special treat, especially since fish and chips can be pricey in today's economy. This time, we ordered three of the mini fish and chip specials, which were a good size for us. Unfortunately, the fish was not good this time - the batter was tough and the sausage seemed dry, like they had been sitting out for a while. The chips were fresh and the peas were decent, but the fish should have been fresher considering we picked up our meal at 7:30. We were disappointed with our experience and reached out to express our concerns via email, but have not received a response yet. This lack of communication and the subpar meal may deter us from returning in the future, which is unfortunate as one negative experience can make a big impact.

I recently ordered a large kebab meat and chips from this place and was disappointed to find a very small portion when I got home. My family and I have been loyal customers at George's for three years, but it seems like the portion sizes have been consistently shrinking. Unfortunately, tonight's experience has left me so disappointed that I won't be returning again.

I use this chippy once a week and have done for the last year, the food has always been great here, but tonight I had the pleasure of being served by one of the new staff which was a young male, he was fantastic with customer service and very well mannered. I ordered a large cod and chips, 2 southern fried chicken and 2 battered sausages, he had presented my food nicely and didn’t just throw it in the bag like most chip shops, most importantly the fish came separated to the chips which is a bigger winner for me! the fish was very large and fresh, the batter was lovely and crispy and it tasted amazing! I will stick to mini cod next time though as it was just to big it could feed two people easily, and the southern fried chicken was my partners and the skin was delicious and the chicken just fell to bits in your mouth it was .. in her words .. mouth watering. Overall if you haven’t got the gist already it’s an amazing chippy with amazing freshly served food. Keep up the good work you guys!

Visited Georges fish and chips today for an early dinner and we weren’t disappointed. Their food is perfectly cooked, served with a smile and piping hot by the time we got it home. The flavour in the kebabs is second to none, fresh off the grill and topped with crunchy salad and some chilli. Thank you Georges
