But now it’s not as good as before. $23.00 for a plate with brisket slices cut wrong with the grain instead of against the grain which made it difficult to eat and that had more fat than meat is a waste of my money. I’d rather go to Bill Millers. They’ve done lost my business until their quality of food changes. I feel ripped off
This used to be the best bbq in texas. I have been going there for the last 20 years, always had 24 hour smoked brisket, super moist, fall apart flavorful, constantly spritzing the meat. On this visit, 3 bbq brisket sandwiches (super dry, tough, not much smoke, not very flavorful) Definitely not the same brisket of the past 20 years. There were 2 black guys that worked there for both 20 years , a large round guy who got promoted to manager, and a super skinny guy. They were the lifeblood of this establishment. (if anyone knows if they went to another bbq spot please let me know) The asian guy bought it in 2013, and kept on the original crew and quality for a few years yet he seems to be grumpy and disgruntled these days, and the old staff doesn't seem to work there anymore. We pulled up and his current employee is sitting out on the steps smoking a joint the size of a cigar, wife had to roll up the windows with our son in the car while I went inside to get our food. We won't be going here again unfortunately, it seems many of the reviews in the last year echo the same insights. Sadly to say, as this used to be my favorite and I would have driven hours to get to the old smokehouse.
