The Red Hut Café - Round Hill Village

Can't say anything about the food at this place but I can say that they certainly are not customer friendly! There were at least six empty picnic tables outside, two sets of two seats at the counter, a table for four inside all empty. A waiting list of people and they're telling everyone a 35 minute wait, however in the 15 minutes we were there nobody was seated. They said they were short-staffed and I asked if they were waiting for the kitchen to catch up and they said no we are just waiting to get time to seat people. In the meantime the counter seats were still empty and I asked about them and they said we're not skipping people, we are going in order. I said you can't seat a party of five at two counter seats why not just seat the two people and all they said was we're trying to find time. Meanwhile, they were three people trying to explain this to us none of which were seating customers.

Unfortunately for my family and I the customer service was poor. We ordered coffee, juice and tap water. I asked twice for more coffee and water and it never happened or better said we are still waiting for it. The food was unflavored and portions too small. My daughter ordered steak and eggs, the steak was cold and not tender at all and eggs and hash browns were cold. The other plates were something similar.

What a terrible restaurant. Service in Lake Tahoe is always hit or kiss, but Red Huts was the worst I’ve experienced since being here. Waited for 15 minutes at the table without any waitstaff acknowledgement to see servers take orders for table that just sat down. Right next to us on both right and left. We asked for water (at least) and she was so rude, never got water. We ended up leaving and she came running to us saying “sorry” and laughing. Will never be back. I’m so shocked at the entire experience and how awful it was.

Atmosphere is old school. Tables, chairs and counter need some update. Small restaurant, only one table for 8. Picnic tables outside on a grass area. Large servings, with light and fluffy pancakes!! Food was good! Hash browns did not disappoint!! Will return, but expect they get very busy on weekends. We were there around 11:00am on a Tuesday, and waited a short time to eat inside.

Great place for breakfast! Waffles are great and you can’t go wrong with biscuits n gravy!
