with many Sydney cooks, including pasi petenan with caffe paci 2.0, which is remote from the tasting eaters, it is interesting to see a set menu restaurant in pokolbin. perhaps it explores the surrounding weinberge des hunter valley, which encourages the diners to slow down and to spend a long, cozy meal in the exp. restaurant. cultivated on oakvale winery, exp. is a minimalist space that revolves around nature, both for the decorative elements of the white space, the servier vessels, and of course what is presented in and on them. on the banquet side of the clobular wooden table, offers them a view of the long galley style open kitchen.
the combination of each plate is perfect. it's the best meal I had in one. my favorite is the lamb bell, it's really delicious. the only part is that they have somehow missed our booking, but we were arranged a seat in the outside area, it is actually better to look outside at the weinberg.
What do you want me to say? we had many degustations progressive dinners. this we have experienced in the chefs bar, which is like a cook. they sit in the bar, and see the cook and finish all meal times before they are served. and they share with you all tips and secrets of what they do. very appealing. maintenance factor is extreme, then there is eating and paired wee. we did the exp. Erience menu. it tasty to call would be an understatement. from hand cut chips to honey and raw to chicken fat butter. I do not know how to express the delicacies of this menu and the skills in this kitchen. service was excellent. we were obviously overhead that we had to come back the next day when the cellar door was open to get a bottle of wein, and they came to us to offer it at the price of the cellar! that's service, that's great. delicious!
Unfortunately not as good as we expected it. Dishes generally lack flavour and very disappointing that the mains dont have proper sides incorporated (e.g. some mash with the steak dish or veggies). Ended up having nice looking pieces of meat on a plate, pretty average for the price you pay. Service however is friendly and the wine list representative of the region which was great to see.
