As a local Melbournian, we stopped here for a Saturday lunch, after we wanted to eat something more upscale than the standard food court in Melbourne Central Shopping complex. We sat down and ordered a pretty regulation sushi/sashimi plate that we had shared in dozens of other Japanese restaurants. Since the restaurant is surrounded by other food dishes, prices are much more expensive than smaller neighboring places with different sushi boxes. To our disappointment when the record came, it was presented terriblely and of very low quality. There was no fresh tuna, only all cooked tuna from a can. The prawn avocado sushi had no prawn in it and only this terrible 'crab stick'. The Sashimi was dry and very inconspicuous. We sent the plate back and left the restaurant without food. Instead, we ate a Bento Box style meal for a third of the food dish price, with real tuna and a real yarn in the sushi rolls. This is easily the worst Japanese I have ever eaten in Melbourne and is best avoided.
The sushi is affordable at this restaurant. It has a lively atmosphere, perfect for grabbing a bite before a movie at Melbourne Central. The conveyor belt sushi adds to the fun. It's not too crowded, making it easy to find a seat and unwind.
The sushi and sashimi at this restaurant are too expensive for the limited selection offered. The service is also disappointing, especially considering the restaurant claims to cater to a Japanese palate.
Try the sushi train..great choices of sushi. Menu is extensive, love the octopus balls or starter and excellent bento box selection.
