I was excited to try authentic German food in Lexington, so I decided to visit Marrikas. The service provided by my server was excellent, but unfortunately, it was the highlight of the meal. I ordered the schweine schnitzle with potato dumplings and green beans. The pork cutlet lacked seasoning and flavor, and even the breading seemed bland. A lemon wedge provided some slight improvement. The green beans seemed to be straight from a can and lacked seasoning. The potato dumplings were the standout dish, soft and tender as they should be. The accompanying gravy was generic and lacked flavor. I was disappointed to find out that the restaurant did not offer bread and butter with meals, but my server kindly brought me warm slices of rye bread with butter. I decided to skip dessert when I saw they offered German chocolate cake, which is not authentic to Germany. The restaurant had a nice ambiance with German decorations on the walls. Overall, while the service and ambiance were great, the food did not meet my expectations for authentic German cuisine.
