Feedback gevenAfter completing the Emily Dickinson poetry walk, my friend (a vegetarian) and I decided to stop in for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to find a decent selection of vegetarian options on the menu. Upon entering, we noticed the restaurant was tidy, although it appeared to be run by just one server who also seemed to be helping out in the kitchen, with an additional staff member assisting in the back. Despite this, the service was prompt and attentive, and we were seated and served quickly. To start, we both opted for the iced ginger lemon tea, which was absolutely delightful and refreshing. We shared a plate of veggie momo dumplings served with well-pickled daikon radish and a flavorful chili sauce. The dumplings were perfectly steamed and bursting with vegetable goodness. For my main course, I ordered the shamday plate with chicken. The potatoes were tender, and the wood ear mushrooms were cooked to perfection. The sauce complemented the dish nicely, and the side of greens added a refreshing touch. My companion chose the broccoli with garlic in a light brown sauce. This dish was a garlic lover's dream, with the broccoli cooked just right and infused with rich garlic flavors. If I lived closer to Momo's, I would definitely return to explore more of their menu. Watching the dishes arrive at neighboring tables made me eager to try out a wider variety of their offerings. The cozy atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff added to the overall enjoyable dining experience. It is certainly worth a visit for anyone craving authentic Tibetan cuisine.
The food was horrible. We ordered the sweet momos and they were super tiny and expensive for what it was. My friend got a tea which didn't taste good. My mango lassi was lacking. The service wasn't that great. The person who took our order was racist. The ambiance was lacking. I would never go back there. I don't know why this place has so many five-star reviews. I paid $21 for a tea, a mango lassi, and four pieces of tiny momos. Not worth it! We ended up going to Arigato next door, and it was so much better. EDIT: the manager, I presumed, apologized over PM and then also mansplained the price of the momos. also claimed not to see any racist behavior in the security camera. i don't know how you can prove racism existed in our interaction through a security camera, but okay. If I could give this place 0 stars, i would. the best thing would be to refund me rather than try to refute my experience.
Momos serves such a variety of dishes from comforting soups with hand pulled noodles to their authentic momos with your choice of meat We enjoyed the yersta lhusha as well and I personally could not get enough of the shrimp fried rice
Went back after a while. Their hours have changed a bit since the pandemic but I think they're open on a more consistent basis now. We got food for takeout. They were packed on a Monday night. I got my favorite the beef shapta which is a sautéed beef dish that has onions and peppers in it. I got the Neumta Bale which is a fritter like bread that goes really well with the shapta. I'm sure you could also eat it with rice. My wife got her favorite the chicken Thukpa Nuema which is a noodle dish. The lady who has been there since the first time we went there was present. She's always so sweet. The prices have gone up but we love their food so we're cool with that.
Passing through Amherst on our way back to CT, my mom I settled on trying something new, Tibetan food. We checked reviews and other than being short staffed, the reviews were great. Raves about the food flavor was our deciding factor. It'd been a rainy chilly day watching my son's college football gane we needed warmth, sustenance time wasn't an issue; until it was. We arrived were sitted at the exact same time as a couple who had the other of the two servers available. Somehow, under her care, they ordered, ate, paid left before we received our appetizer, Dolma Mono, dumplings with Tibetan sweet root. Maybe the reviews gave us high expectations but the dumplings arrived room temperature, thick skinned no sauce. The sweet root was interesting but not something I'd order again. I ordered Mothuk soup with chicken. The broth was tasty and gave me the warmth I was looking for. There wasn't much else to the soup; some baby spinach chicken wrapped in the same thick skin as the dumplings. No pop of flavor for me but t my mom faired better. She ordered Shamday with chicken, served with greens white rice. It truly was flavorful. Fried bread also hit the spot. Overall, the inconsistency bothered me. Table to table the service, timing taste was all over the place. I'd try another place on the strip before going to Momo again.
